Who will qualify for the IPL playoffs after Hyderabad and Chennai??

So as you can see in the points table down below that CSK and SRH have already qualified for the playoffs in 20118 IPL. All the teams have played 12 games each and SRH is standing with 18 points at the top of the table followed by CSK with 16 points. So here comes the fun fact. The next 3 teams, KKR, RR and KXIP are at the same point, 12, but differ from the net run rate.

If we look at MI, RCB and DD, they are already out of the tournament. The maximum points that MI and RCB can get if they win their next two games is 14. On the other hand KKR, RR and KXIP have 12 points each and if they manage to win their net corresponding games, the maximum points they get is 16 points, which will be the minimum points to qualify for the playoffs.

Now here comes the fun fact.
KKR has two games left. They play with RR today at Eden Gardens and the other match with SRK in Hyderabad.
RR have two games left, one with KKR and the other with RCB.
KXIP have the two games with CSK and MI.
So here comes the main point. One of the two between KKR and RR will win 2 of their remaining games as one of the games they have with each other. Though none of the team can afford to lose the next two games, one has to close one game at least. So basically one of the two teams have the chance to qualify for the playoffs and the other team that qualifies for the playoffs is KXIP.
The only chance that both KKR and RR qualifies for the playoffs is that KXIP have to lose all of their remaining games.

Now comes the positons in which they will end the league table.
This is not that simple to predict. But, if KKR manages to win their next two games, and if they win one of the two games with approximately 70-80 runs or with 7-8 overs remaining, they can finish the league table on the 2nd position, provided, CSK loses their next two games.
Same happens for RR. But in case of KXIP, they need to win their next two games with a margin of at least 130 runs or with 12-14 overs remaining. This part is next to impossible actually.
What KKR needs to finish in the 2nd position?

The answer is quite simple, that they should win the next two games and increase their net run rate somehow and also would want CSK to lose their next two games.

What RR needs to finish in the 2nd position?

The answer is again quite simple, that they should win the next two games and increase their net run rate somehow and also would want CSK to lose their next two games.

What KXIP needs to finish in the 2nd position?

The answer is that they need to win their next two games and would want KKR and RR to lose their games, at least one game, and also want CSK to lose both of their games.

Every year the last week of IPL becomes really fascinating and this year, its not an exception.
