KKR keeps the 16 pointer Dream Alive

Both of the two teams, KKR and RR were at the same point in the points table. Both had to win the game to move one step ahead towards the playoffs in the IPL 2018. But its simple, only one could have won against each other. There is no place for a draw match like other games such as football or hockey. KKR won it finally and added the two precious points in the table to make it 14.

The RR’s were looking really dangerous at the start of their innings when the skipper of KKR won the toss and elected to bowl first. They were 49 for no loss after 3 overs and then 63 for 1 after 4.5 overs when they lost their first wicket of Rahul Tripathi 27(15). From there on KKR started having a major control on the match. They lost 5 wickets for 96 runs when it was already 11.1 overs. They ended up their innings with a below average score of 142/10. Kuldeep Yadav took his career best figures for 4-0-20-4. Prashid and Russel took 2 wickets each. Narine and Mavi got 1 each. Buttler was their highest scorer 39(22).
KKR started off well when Narine hit 6,4,6,4 in the first 4 balls he played to Gowtham completing the first over as 21/0. But in the very next over he got out with a short ball from Ben Strokes. R Uthappa also didn’t do well as he got out for just 4(6). Rana played a handy innings of 21 from 17 and was given LBW.

They match changed from there. Chris Lynn and the KKR skipper started of their partnership with strike rotating and held on to a position where it was just run-a-ball equation. This was happening quite well for KKR when Lynn tried to over hit a short delivery from Ben Strokes and got out for 45(42).

Like always the Giant of KKR, Russel was in the crease and helped KKR to finish the innings quickly. The Captain batted brilliantly for an innings of 41 of 31 and finished of the game with a six over long-on.

There are still hopes alive for KKR to reach the playoffs. They will play the SRH on 19th of May in Hyderabad.

KKR fans – Sit back, relax and keep your fingers crossed.
