Apeejay Bangla Sahitya Utsob celebrated the genius of Rituporno Ghosh on Unishe April

Apeejay Bangla Sahitya Utsab (ABSU) ,India's pioneer Literary Festival hosted a special conversation with renowned theatre actor Chapal Bhaduri, Well known writer and director Sangeeta Dutta, eminent music composer Debojyoti Mishra ,famous theatre director Rakesh Ghosh and Rj Roy to celebrate "Unishe April" as a day of remembrance for National Award winning director, actor, writer, lyricist of Bangla Cinema Late Rituporno Ghosh, at the 100 year old heritage Oxford  bookstore on Park Street.

The conversation was specially curated with people who had worked with him, directed him and ones who inspired him and loved him for his work, his courage to live his life on his own term and creating films that has remained masterpieces, like Sangeeta Dutta who has made a documentary on Rituporno Ghosh as well as worked with him as an assistant director in many of his movies.

Rituporno's first acting stint was a character based on Chapal Bhaduri with whom he has worked closely in theatre. Debojyoti Mishra has worked with him as a composer in many films, and bagged the National Award for "Raincoat". Rakesh Ghosh at present is working on a play on Rituporno Ghosh.

Rituporno Ghosh has been one of the brightest stars of Modern Bangla Cinema and had redefined the language of good cinema. Awarded 12 National Awards for his different works, his films today are read as critical literal pieces delving into the inner recesses of human mind and follies. His death at a young age has left a vacuum in the world of Bangla Cinema, literary and intellectual spheres.

Apeejay Bangla Sahitya Utsab (ABSU), India's first Literary Festival created by nearly 100 year old Oxford Bookstore in 2015, honours the rich literary tradition of Bangla literature by making it visible and accessible. The Utshob is a pioneer of initiating an interactive platform for contemporary Bangla literature at the National and International stages. ABSU encourages youth and familiarizes with the Bengali language. Among the eminent personalities who have graced the Festivsl in the last three editions are renowned authors and writers like Shirshendu Mukherjee, Nabaneeta Dev Sen, Samaresh Majumdar, Shankha Ghosh, Pracheta Gupta, Ranjan Bandopadhyay, Anindo Chattopadhya, Prafulla Roy, Nrisingha Prasad Bhaduri, Binod Ghoshal, Himadrishikhor Dasgupta, Anish Deb, Krishnendu Mukherjee, Srijato, Saikat Mukhopadhyay and Subodh Sarkar; film directors like Suman Mukhopadhyay, Anirudha Roy Chowdhury and Arindam Sil; Bengali musicians Nachiketa, Surojit Chatterjee and Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta; Actors Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Barun Chandra and Abir Chattopadhyay, theatre personalities like Arindam Ganguly, Riddhi Sen, Bratya Basu. Beside these the Utsob has also attracted literary personalities from Bangladesh like Salina Hussain and Imadul Haque Milon. ABSU is committed to the journey of Bangla Literature which is both exciting and exhilarating.
