Jitendra Singh becomes youngest goalscorer in I-League's history

Jitendra Singh created history as he became the youngest player to
score a goal in the history of the I-League after finding the back of the
net for the Indian Arrows against Shillong Lajong on Tuesday.

He broke the record at the mere age of 16 years, 6 months and 13 days,
beating the last record holder Baoringdao Bodo by almost nine months.
The youngster was part of the India squad that participated in the
recently-concluded FIFA U-17 World Cup held in India and was an important
member in the lineup, starting for the team in their group matches against
the USA and Ghana.
He now plays in the I-League for the Indian Arrows, a team made up of
India's U-17 and U-19 players.
Jitendra scored the first goal of his I-League career after Rahim Ali put the
ball on a platter for him, leaving him to tap in from three yards out.
The goal helped the Indian Arrows defeat the high-flying Shillong Lajong by
a 3-0 margin to record their second win of the season.
The Arrows had made six changes to their starting lineup from the last
match they lost to Gokulam Kerala. Jitendra Singh was one of the six players
making a comeback in the team after he was left out in the last match.

Jitendra is looking to nail down a regular starting spot in the Arrows team,
who will next go up against the mighty Mohun Bagan in Kolkata on Friday.

It's a great moment for the youngster and he would definitely like to use
this as a stepping stone to achieve bigger things. Here's hoping he does
even better in the games to come and breaks even more records!
